ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO III
PROJECT 1. Poetic Journey Structure
Project 1 focuses on poetic architecture that forms expressive experiential spatial journey which tells a story and engages with the users through their individual senses. Poetic architecture convey beauty together with meaningful experiences that leaves one feeling more fulfilled. The task will be supported by reading precedence, site visit & site exploration of a given building, plus inventory and categorization of poetic spaces.

Task & Requirements
Project 1 is a group project with an individual component. In groups of eight (8) students, the task is to romanticize a rainforest and translate it into an intriguing narrative that will then be transformed it into two (2) individual standalone Poetic Journey Structure. Students are required to come up with one narrative which will then transform one as a concentric journey structure and one as a linear journey structure, hence the two (2) Poetic Journey Structure. As part of the learning and design process, students are required to do some research on the main subject matter which is “the rainforest”, conduct two (2) poetic architecture precedence studies, do a site visit and analysis of a poetic building, identify the different types of poetic spaces, recognize the “modifying elements”, understand the characteristic of a concentric and linear layout and understand what makes a good poetic spatial architecture. For submission and presentation students are required to present all the information and proposal as one cohesive presentation.

DESIGN PROCESS
ORPHIC. Linear layout
Travelling up the layers, darkness is slowly washed away by rays of lights from above, clearing the sight for the lost. Higher, and
higher, it grows; reaching the sky beyond limits.
One’s fall is another’s rebirth; the cycle is completed as the melancholy of death is reincarnated with purpose. The rainforest witness
the uprise and downfall of a glorious kingdom, laying out an adventure beyond imagination
JEJAK ATUR. Concentric layout
Enveloped by the verticality of the rainforest, JEJAK ATUR is a poetic structure that reminisces the self-sustaining ecosystem that travels through layers of the green canopies.
Chaotic as it may seem at first approach, only till then one would discover the indistinctive order within that guides the user across various poetical pockets that streamlines the journey as one.
