FINAL PROJECT. TINY HOUSE PROJECT

INTRODUCTION TO SPATIAL DESIGN

PROGRESS

WE WERE GIVEN A 7 WEEKS' WINDOW OF COMPLETION SINCE ANNOUNCMENT OF THE PROJECT BRIEF.

WEEK 1

WATCH THE MOVIE INSIDE OUT

/ PRODUCE CLIENT BRIEF IN FORM OF SKETCHES AND DIAGRAMS

The project brief was given to us on the first week and hence I went online to view the movie.

My assigned character was Disgust. She was portrayed with overprotective personalities. As so, I went on the idea of letting her face her inner fears and from there gain confidence to open up freely to her peers in the end.

WEEK 2

/ PRODUCE BUBBLE DIAGRAMS

- to exhibit the spatial relations within the head cube space

/ PRODUCE  INITIAL SKETCHES

- reflect the initial ideas of the head space

After coming up with detailed analysis on my client, I then proceeded with sketching the head space that I had in mind for her.

Hence I came out with some sketches reflecting key information of her such as her heightpersonalities and etc.

Some massing studies was also conducted.

WEEK 3

/ PRODUCE MOCK-UP MODELS

/ PRODUCE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT SKETCHES

- massing studies, sectional sketches, diagrammatic sketch

I transformed the sketches that I've compiled into a mock-up model to understand the relationship between the planes and volume of the 3 tiers.

Some sketches were also produced to illustrate the profile line of my model as well as the general idea of it.

The materials incorporated were modelling board, reflective paper, compressed foam board and etc.

I've also produced 2 rendered using pen, ink and watercolor to exhibit the context and ambiance of the model that I have in mind.

I cross checked every item again to make sure their ready for submission.

REVIEW

This final assignment was indeed a perfect wrap up for this module. We were required to channel all the spatial design skills and knowledge that we acquired from previous assignment and further develop them into suiting a subject's characteristics and needs. Development from sketches into mock-up models and finally an actual head space cube in proportionate to the character's assumed height; an average teenager height. Various measurements were taken into consideration to be incorporated with the design principles and approaches. We were exposed to a wide range of new terms and knowledge including ergonomics study that we never came across previously.
